Declan Rice signs new long-term contract

West Ham United is delighted to announce that Declan Rice has signed a new long-term contract until summer 2024, with a further one year option for the Club to extend.

The outstanding Rice, who turns 20 in January, has committed his future to the Club he joined as a 14-year-old schoolboy.

The teenager, who has been in fantastic form in recent months and passed 50 first-team appearances in December, is looking forward to continuing his flourishing career in Claret and Blue.
Joint-Chairman David Sullivan, who was instrumental in finalising the deal, was thrilled to secure Rice’s services for the next five-and-a-half years.

Re: Declan Rice
A very tough defensive game and he looked more calm and assured than anyone on the pitch.

The lad is a real talent and a natural replacement for Reid in the first XI.

Re: Declan Rice
without putting too much pressure on him, he could be as good as Paul McGrath. Looks the real deal.

Re: Declan Rice
From another era, when we had footballers in defence.

Wasn't there some blond geezer who did rather well who came through our ranks?

Northern usually watches football, golf, rugby and horse-racing at the same time, but the football's always us if we're playing.

Really classy from an 18 year old. He's got the right attitude. We should be building a team around him, as he'll make a great captain one day.

Re: Declan Rice
Best thing I can say about him is that he has got a touch of the Mooro's about him... not so much the passing but his positional sense and anticipation ... which is first class and not something that can be taught

Re: Declan Rice
The way the lad chested away the ball away from pressure and calmly lifted it in their half, with tired legs suffering from cramps, was so good.

So pleased for him, and west ham
